Job summary

Solara Home Energy is seeking a Design Specialist to develop renewable energy electrical drawing packages for PV and battery storage projects. You will produce AutoCAD drawings, maintain libraries, and ensure compliance with codes while coordinating with engineering and field teams.

The role supports Rocklin, CA or Wheeling, IL offices with remote options and periodic travel. Requires 2+ years in renewable energy design, strong AutoCAD skills, and NEC knowledge.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, CAD Design, or related field.
• Two or more years of experience in renewable energy system design, electrical drafting, or related field.
• Experience with commercial, industrial, or utility-scale solar projects.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of PV and BESS design concepts and electrical construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Design complete PV drawing packages using AutoCAD, including site layouts and single-line diagrams.
• Create and revise PV system drawings to meet project specifications and codes.
• Review project designs for accuracy and constructability.
• Coordinate design changes with engineering teams and updates to projects.
• Manage workloads and ensure design deliverables meet schedules.
• Collaborate with project managers and installation teams to support execution.
