Job Description:
Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Purview Governance Specialist to support its Information Protection and Data Governance initiatives. This role will focus on the design, implementation, and ongoing management of policies within Microsoft Purview, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and the protection of sensitive data. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview and data governance best practices, preferably in a regulated environment such as financial services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, manage, and monitor Information Protection policies in Microsoft Purview, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Sensitivity Labels, and Data Security Posture Management.
• Consult on and support the implementation of enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, with emphasis on improving data quality and protecting sensitive information.
• Analyze and communicate metrics, audit logs, and policy results to drive risk reduction and enhance compliance posture.
• Act as a liaison between information security and lines of business to ensure clear understanding and application of governance policies.
• Assist internal teams with questions and issues related to Microsoft Purview security implementations.
• Define and implement data governance operating models, including data roles, responsibilities, dictionaries, glossaries, and lineage.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for better use of information assets.
• Support enterprise data retention and destruction initiatives in accordance with privacy regulations and best practices.

Experience:

• Must Have:
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Purview, including hands-on experience with:
  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
  • Data Classification
  • Insider Risk Management
  • Experience in building policies, pulling audit logs, and reporting metrics in Microsoft Purview.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data governance principles, security frameworks, and regulatory compliance.
• Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview eDiscovery or Insider Risk Management.
  • Knowledge of Proofpoint Email, Zscaler, or Symantec DLP.
  • Background in data lifecycle management, retention/destruction of unstructured data, and physical record compliance.
  • Familiarity with PCI, Privacy Regulations, and financial institution risk frameworks.
  • Project management experience in technical or governance initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Data Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience implementing data loss prevention, Microsoft Purview, or similar solutions at enterprise scale.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and analytical skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
