Job summary

Merck & Co. in Rahway, NJ, USA, seeks a security-focused professional to join the IT Risk Management and Security organization.

The role centers on the Microsoft Purview Platform and DLP engineering, with responsibilities spanning policy design, automation, and incident response. The candidate will tune and maintain information protection technologies, collaborate across Legal, HR, and business units, and drive metrics on data risk posture.

Qualifications

• Formalized training in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field with Microsoft Purview Platform experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years in Cyber Security roles.
• Proven information security background including incident response and platform implementation.
• Strong experience with Data Loss Prevention concepts, methodologies, and tools.
• Ability to independently investigate and resolve complex security incidents (Tier 2/3).
• Hands-on scripting/programming experience in Python or PowerShell for automation, data extraction, or integration.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, OS architectures, and cloud security.
• Team-oriented, able to balance priorities and handle emergencies with engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy new DLP policies, rules, and logic across network, endpoint, and cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve incident response workflows and reporting.
• Support maintenance and troubleshooting of the information protection technology stack for high availability and detection accuracy.
• Continuously evaluate processes and controls to adapt to a fast-moving security environment.
• Collaborate with Global Security, Legal, HR, and other units to respond to data loss prevention needs.
• Create, modify, and review security dashboards and metrics for data risk insights.
• Investigate, analyze, and manage security incidents from DLP and other tools using logs and visualization.
