Job description

Purina Feed Sales - Grass Cattle (Finance)

We're hiring a Purina Feed Sales Rep to focus primarily on Grass Cattle feed sales with our partner dealer in the Fairview, OK territory. This role involves selling feed and related products to optimize market share, improve dealer efficiency, and help achieve dealer goals.

This is a remote (virtual) field-based sales position located within the geographic territory of Fairview, OK.

Your responsibilities will include:
  1. Calling on grass cattle owners to evaluate existing feeding programs and recommend nutritional solutions.
  2. Selling and consulting at the farm gate (up to 25 farm calls per week) to sell Purina products, grow sales, and develop new prospects, including cold calling.
  3. Organizing and conducting educational meetings for 4H clubs, vets, etc., to enhance brand image, sell products, and increase store traffic.
Experience/Education:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field preferred; candidates with pending degrees or proven sales/industry experience may be considered.
  2. Previous sales experience highly desired.
  3. Basic knowledge of nutritional and feeding recommendations for grass cattle.
  4. Understanding of grass cattle husbandry, management practices, nutritional guidelines, and industry knowledge.
  5. Competent in providing accurate feeding and management recommendations.
  6. Strong computer skills (MS Office, HerdSmart, Salesforce).
  7. Previous professional experience with grass cattle.
Competencies & Skills:
  1. Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  2. High internal drive, relationship-building ability, and leadership skills.
  3. Ability to make multiple daily sales calls.
  4. On-farm interaction in all weather conditions.
  5. Networking ability to foster industry relationships.
  6. Physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  7. Public speaking skills.
Travel:
  • Approximately 15% overnight travel, plus daily travel within the territory.

This sales role offers a compensation package with a base salary plus commission, generally between $50,000 - $60,000, with a target bonus of $10,000. Candidates are typically hired near the middle of the salary range.
