Purification Technician I/II

SHIFT: 12 Hour Rotating 6a-6p // 6p-6a

Summary:

The Purification Technician performs fundamental tasks within a GMP environment by cleaning and maintaining the workplace, cleaning, assembling and disassembling operating equipment per applicable procedures, assisting with process control manipulations, and maintaining records/logs in accordance with current standard procedures.

Level I Responsibilities:
  • Performs general housekeeping in compliance with the high standards required of a pharmaceutical operation.
  • Demonstrates a sound knowledge and understanding of GMP requirements.
  • Ensures safety to safeguard facilities, equipment, product, and co-workers.
  • Dispenses and prepares cleaning/sanitization reagents.
  • Assembles, disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes production equipment.
  • Operates production equipment such as centrifuges, ultrafiltration units, columns, autoclaves, and pasteurizers.
  • Operates fork trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Performs bulk processing and filtration, maintaining processing parameters.
  • Maintains accurate records/logs during production runs.
  • Prepares buffer solutions and stores process intermediates properly.
Additional Responsibilities:

Isolate target proteins from intermediates, process to sterile bulk, and deliver for filling.

Level II Responsibilities:
  • Performs all duties at Level I.
  • Assembles, disassembles, and operates production equipment like spectrophotometers.
  • Performs pH and buffer additions, prepares samples, and performs calculations.
  • Performs routine bulk preparation and integrity tests.
  • Recognizes and reports hazards.
Requirements:

Level I: Basic math, computer skills, mechanical aptitude, detail-oriented, team player, good judgment. High school diploma or equivalent; Bioworks Certificate preferred.

Level II: Minimum 12 months as a Technician in the department; must have an overall 'meets expectations' performance review.

Occupational Demands:

Must lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk continuously, work rotating shifts, and perform in a manufacturing environment with exposure to biological fluids, chemicals, noise, and extreme cold. PPE required. Physical activities include bending, twisting, hand movements, lifting, and carrying.
