Job summary

Impact Fab, Inc. is seeking an experienced Purchasing & Supplier Management Specialist to own purchasing activities and strengthen supplier relationships, supporting our manufacturing operations in Holland, Michigan.

This hands-on role goes beyond placing orders; you will negotiate with suppliers, hold vendors accountable, and ensure production is stocked and on schedule, driving cost improvements and reliable delivery commitments across the plant.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of purchasing, procurement, or supplier management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience purchasing steel, aluminum, hardware, tooling, or manufacturing consumables.
• Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, welding, or outside finishing processes.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier performance.
• Working knowledge of purchase orders, inventory controls, and ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily purchasing of raw materials, hardware, welding supplies, CNC tooling and consumables, and general manufacturing supplies.
• Negotiate competitive pricing, lead times, and purchasing agreements with suppliers.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through competitive sourcing, supplier negotiations, and purchasing improvements.
• Process and manage purchase orders, monitor delivery commitments, and resolve material shortages.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier pricing, and order information.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with material suppliers and service providers.
• Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness.
• Address supplier performance concerns and drive corrective actions.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop alternative suppliers to improve reliability and reduce purchasing risk.
• Manage supplier relationships for outside manufacturing processes, including powder coating, plating, and other subcontracted services.
• Negotiate pricing, turnaround times, and delivery commitments.
• Proactively follow up on outstanding orders and address potential delays.
• Coordinate with Production Control, Shipping, and Operations to ensure outside services support production schedules.
• Work closely with Production Control, Program Management, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing.
• Communicate supplier delivery issues and material availability concerns.
• Support inventory replenishment and material availability improvements.
• Help establish consistent purchasing procedures and supplier performance measurements.

Impact Fab is seeking an experienced, motivated Purchasing & Supplier Management Specialist to take ownership of our purchasing activities, strengthen supplier relationships, and support our manufacturing operations.

This role goes beyond placing orders and processing purchase orders. We need a hands-on purchasing professional who understands manufacturing, knows how to negotiate with suppliers, holds vendors accountable, and takes pride in keeping production supplied and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Cost Management

• Manage daily purchasing of raw materials, hardware, welding supplies, CNC tooling and consumables, and general manufacturing supplies.
