Job summary

FHLB Des Moines is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead the Largo purchasing function, ensuring material availability and supplier performance. You will drive MRP/ERP discipline, partner with cross-functional teams, and coach a high-performing purchasing organization.

The role focuses on backorder reduction, inventory optimization, working capital improvement, and cost achievement in a regulated manufacturing environment. Strong leadership and strategic sourcing capabilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, materials, supply chain, or related field.
• 3+ years of direct or indirect people leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead people and develop the purchasing team with clear expectations and succession planning.
• Oversee day-to-day purchasing to support production plans and service levels, including MRP/ERP execution and supplier delivery commitments.
• Build supplier relationships through structured performance reviews, scorecards, and corrective action plans.
• Design and sustain purchasing management systems, KPIs, dashboards, and standard work.
• Balance inventory, working capital, and cost through disciplined replenishment and PPV initiatives.
