Responsibilities

• Manage the international sourcing and procurement of electrical assemblies and components for custom-engineered equipment.
• Lead supplier selection, supplier development, and strategic sourcing initiatives to ensure quality, cost, and delivery performance.
• Partner with electrical/mechanical engineering and operations teams to optimize material groups and procurement strategies.
• Oversee the complete purchasing cycle, including RFQs, supplier evaluations, negotiations, purchase orders, and contract management.
• Analyze supplier performance, market trends, pricing, and lead times to support cost reduction and supply chain optimization.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, contracts, and long-term supplier agreements.
• Build and maintain relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
• Support inventory management, production planning, and project timelines through procurement coordination.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks while ensuring continuity of supply for critical components.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain operations.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager, North America to support the expansion of U.S. manufacturing operations for an established global high-tech manufacturing company. The organization already has a strong customer base and significant business in North America and is now expanding its U.S. capabilities by establishing manufacturing operations and building a supporting domestic supply chain.

In this role, you will lead the strategic sourcing and procurement of electrical and mechanical components used in highly engineered, custom equipment. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and global procurement teams to identify and develop U.S. suppliers, strengthen the domestic supply chain, and support the successful build-out of manufacturing operations.

The Purchasing Manager will also travel to Germany for training and collaboration with the company’s established European operations, gaining firsthand knowledge of its products, suppliers, processes, and procurement standards.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on procurement leader to help build and shape a U.S. purchasing and supply chain function within an established international organization.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering,
• or a related technical field; equivalent industry experience will also be considered
• 7+ years of purchasing or strategic sourcing experience in industrial manufacturing, custom machinery,
• Automation, special equipment, or related technical industries
• Strong technical understanding of electrical components, assemblies, controls, and industrial systems used in engineered equipment manufacturing
• Must be able to read, interpret, and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and other complex engineering documentation
• Established supplier network and sourcing experience within the electrical component and industrial equipment market

Travel:

• This position requires occasional domestic and international travel, including supplier visits and meetings with global operations
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Compensation:

• Competitive base salary between $115,000/yr-$125,000/yr based on experience
