Job summary

dfhextcareersite is seeking a purchasing/estimation professional for a production residential builder role in Charlotte, NC. The position supports the Purchasing Director with subcontractor onboarding, options mapping, and community build-out execution. You will scrub budgets and negotiate pricing to drive cost reductions.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in estimating or purchasing in residential construction, strong MS Office skills, and excellent communication. Travel to sites may be required.

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist Purchasing Director with implementation of new subcontractors
• Implement options mapping and new community build out as laid out by Purchasing Director
• Scrub jobs to ensure budget accuracy
• Negotiate subcontractor pricing to achieve cost reductions
• Find qualified trade partners who can provide cost effective construction and quality
• Participate and prepare reporting, tracking and rebate information on Net Plus Contract Program
• Update approved bid lists
• Perform all other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE

• At least two (2) years of experience in estimating or purchasing for a production residential builder
• Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
• Experience with New Star Enterprise or Equivalent Software and electronic take off (preferred) but not required
• MS Office and proficiency with spreadsheets
• Self-motivated with attention to detail, positive attitude and ability to work as a team member
• Organization and time management skills are a necessity
• Exceptional communication skills -- both written and verbal
• Comfortable presenting ideas and solutions to leadership and key business partners
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships
• Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Valid Driver's License
