Mercor is recruiting experienced Buyers and Purchasing Agents to collaborate with leading AI labs on research projects that help train advanced AI systems. In this independent contractor role, you’ll apply your expertise in procurement, sourcing, and vendor management to create realistic business scenarios and purchasing workflows for AI model development.

What We're Looking For:

• 3+ years of full-time experience as a buyer, purchasing agent, or procurement specialist in manufacturing, wholesale, or retail
• Proven experience selecting and ordering merchandise or commodities (excluding farm products) based on price, quality, trends, and past sales data
• Familiarity with contract negotiation, vendor management, and purchasing systems (e.g., ERP, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
• Hands-on experience analyzing inventory, evaluating bids or proposals, authorizing payments, and introducing new products
• Strong understanding of product categories, sourcing strategy, and supply chain dynamics

What You’ll Do:

• Create realistic procurement scenarios such as evaluating vendor quotes, selecting suppliers, or resolving supply chain disruptions
• Design prompts that reflect core tasks like forecasting demand, placing purchase orders, conducting product evaluations, or managing inventory levels
• Help AI researchers understand procurement terminology, negotiation strategies, and purchasing workflows
• Review and improve AI-generated content for accuracy, professionalism, and alignment with real-world buying processes
