Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement activities for a growing supplier of building and construction materials. This role is responsible for vendor management, strategic sourcing, inventory support, special-order coordination, and freight logistics while ensuring products are purchased cost-effectively and delivered on time.

The ideal candidate has strong negotiation skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to build lasting relationships with suppliers while supporting operational and sales objectives.

Purchasing Manager Responsibilities

• Source and purchase building materials, construction products, tools, and related supplies
• Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships while negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts
• Manage special-order requests from quote through delivery
• Coordinate freight arrangements, including LTL, flatbed, and specialty transportation
• Partner with inventory and operations teams to maintain appropriate stock levels
• Research and evaluate new products, suppliers, and sourcing opportunities
• Create and manage purchase orders within an ERP system
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve shipment, pricing, quality, and delivery issues
• Work closely with Sales, Showroom, Inventory, and Accounting teams to support customer needs
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and procurement process improvements

Qualifications & Experience

• 3–5+ years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience
• Experience in building materials, masonry supplies, hardscape products, construction materials, contractor supply, or related industries strongly preferred
• Strong vendor negotiation and relationship management skills
• Experience using ERP systems such as Acumatica or similar platforms
• Knowledge of freight coordination, logistics, and inventory management
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered
