Job summary

Magnetics, a division of Spang & Company, is seeking a Purchasing Manager based in Pittsburgh, PA. This role leads end-to-end procurement for raw materials, supplies, capital equipment, and contract services to ensure supply continuity, cost competitiveness, and strong supplier performance for manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will partner with Operations to align purchasing with forecast demand, drive cost and delivery performance, and manage RFQs, negotiations, and expediting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or a technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 10%.

Job description

Magnetics, a division of Spang & Company, has an opening for a Purchasing Manager based in Pittsburgh, PA. This position will lead and execute the end-to-end procurement function for raw materials, supplies, capital equipment, and contract services, ensuring continuity of supply, competitive cost, and supplier performance in support of manufacturing operations.

Magnetics is a leading world supplier of precision soft magnetic components and materials to the electronics industry. We specialize in research, design, and production of high-quality powder cores, ferrite cores, and tape wound cores for applications such as chokes, inductors, filters, transformers, and power supply components for use in alternative energy, uninterrupted power supplies, telecommunications, aerospace, military, medical, and other electronics systems.

In this role, you will partner with Operations to align purchasing activities with forecast demand and inventory targets; drive cost, quality, and delivery performance; and perform end-to-end sourcing activities, including RFQs, cost and MOQ negotiations, purchase order issuance, proactive expediting, and resolution of past-due deliveries. You will build and maintain strong supplier relationships as the primary point of contact, ensure a capable supplier base for current and future business needs, and partner with internal customers to define requirements and develop scopes of work for contracted services while coordinating with contractors for timely execution. You will also lead cost-reduction initiatives through negotiations and dual/alternate sourcing strategies and safety stock, ensure compliance with sustainable sourcing standards (including Conflict Minerals regulations and DFARs requirements), resolve receiving and invoicing discrepancies, and manage supplier RMA processes. This position travels domestically up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or a technical discipline and 7+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost-reduction initiatives is required. Must have Experience with ERP systems.
