Job summary

Dimplex Thermal Solutions is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead buying and strategic buying teams, ensure supply continuity, and drive cost efficiency. You will collaborate with Production Control, Sales, and Engineering to align delivery dates with production needs and manage vendor relations.

Ideal candidates bring extensive purchasing experience in manufacturing, strong negotiation and analytics, and a focus on compliance and ethical decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in materials and supply chain management, with a minimum of two years in supervisory roles.
  • 6+ years of experience buying in a manufacturing environment, preferably in industrial equipment or heavy machinery.
  • Strong leadership, motivation, and managerial skills to train and mentor employees.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information, inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
  • Strong demonstrated negotiation skills.
  • Proficient using MS Office tools, particularly Excel and its related tools.
  • Understanding corporate compliance and proven decision-making using integrity and ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Manage buying and strategic buying teams, including actively taking part in the buying and strategic buying functions.
  • Implement procurement and replenishment strategy by reviewing and executing daily orders.
  • Ensure the proper supply level of purchased products to support production: MRO items & supplies; Raw material items; Facility service contracts; Capital expenditures; Service parts.
  • Issue and modify purchase orders with supplier feedback on price, quantity, date, terms, etc.
  • Coordinate with Production Control, Sales, and Engineering to ensure accurate material delivery dates are understood across the organization.
  • Utilize and monitor exception reports for all business metrics; take appropriate and prompt action to prevent stock-outs.
  • Track, investigate, and communicate parts shortages; expedite with suppliers as needed.
  • Communicate with suppliers on past-due shipments and drop-in requirements. Ensure material delivery to the production facility is at the correct time in the correct quantity, maintaining proper inventory targets, and avoiding obsolescence.
  • Review and approve supplier invoices for payment; challenge where needed.
  • Troubleshoot all procure-to-pay problems, collaborating with the Suppliers, Receiving, and Finance to identify root cause and corrective action.
  • Manage suppliers who provide vendor managed inventory (VMI) and consignment programs.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Sales on requests for quotes on new items.
  • Responsible for supplier selection, supplier inventory level maintenance, contract negotiation with suppliers, supplier development, and supplier performance reviews.
  • Participate actively in the Divisional Purchasing organization and liaison regarding global purchase agreements and price negotiations.
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, evaluating, supervising, and terminating of team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
