Job summary

FORMA-FAB METALS, INC is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to manage day-to-day purchasing with a focus on continuous improvement within an MRP environment. Responsibilities include maintaining PO system, communicating forecasts, and ensuring material flow.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Business Studies, has at least three years of buying experience in an MRP environment, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage and review the MRP-based Purchase Order System.
• Purchase materials aligned with inventory parts.

• Assist with renegotiations of terms and supplier performance.
• Check and authorize designated invoices.
• Manage KPIs for purchasing.
• Resolve complaints from customers and vendors.

Position Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day management of a purchasing profile with focus on continuous improvement within purchasing

Essential Functions

• Manage and continuously review the Purchase Order System (MRP), to ensure it is accurate, up to date and consistently meets requirements of the business
• Purchase materials in line with inventory parts
• Timely and effective communication of forecasts and purchase orders to suppliers
• Continually review the overall "value" offered by existing suppliers and ensure that the Company's purchasing remains locally competitive
• Assist with regular re-negotiations of terms of business/service agreements and performance evaluation with suppliers, taking corrective action as required
• Check and authorize designated invoices for stock, packaging and carriage items
• Management of Key Performance Indicators
• Resolve complaints from customers and vendors
• Explains and administers company policies and procedures pertaining to purchasing
• Processing exchanged or refunded parts and/or materials
• Assist in other areas as needed

Requirements

• Degree in Business Studies
• Minimum of three years experience of buying/procurement within an MRP environment
• Excellent understanding of efficient materials flow and best practice
• Strong track record of negotiating procurement/buying terms
• High level of computer literacy, to include MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
• Ability to work under pressure and tight schedules
• Knowledge of equipment, materials and services required
• Strong organizational and administration skills
• Skilled in communicating logically and accurately in oral and written forms
• Confident and assertive; Professional attitude and demeanor; Adaptable/Flexible approach to work
