Job summary

Responsibilities include developing strategies for steel, resins, additives, and fasteners, performing regular cost analyses, and negotiating long-term agreements. ESG and compliance are integral to supplier oversight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply management, business or related.
• Five years’ experience in supply management, preferably in an automotive or metal fabrication industry.
• Experience supervising supply management staff.

Responsibilities

• Conduct itemized cost analysis quarterly and annually; monitor currency and commodity indexes to protect against fluctuations.
• Supplier sourcing, oversee supplier tooling sourcing, and define terms for tooling ownership and payment.
• Contract agreements, establish and negotiate multi-year long-term contracts with annual price adjustments.
• Supplier risk mitigation, building backup supply chains to prevent disruptions.
• Supplier sustainability and ESG compliance monitoring to meet standards.

Job description

Responsible for direct support of procurement of materials for all commodities and MRO items. Supports operations with timely purchase of goods and services in a quality sensitive manner. Trains and motivate purchasing staff to maximize performance, focusing on cost effective purchases using approved corporate processes. Qualifies suppliers as required by regulation & corporate directives. Provides business expertise to the Product Lines and serves as a window for commodity management, supplier development and performance. Also responsible for ensuring that appropriate stocking levels of materials are maintained. Fully on-site position with travel less than 10% of schedule.

Key responsibilities:

1. Develop and execute procurement strategy for distinct commodities:
   • a. steel metals for stampings
   • b. polymer resin for plastic compounds
   • c. compounding additives for rubber and moldings/ extrusion
   • d. wire-rod metals cold-headed fasteners/ hardware.
2. Conduct Itemized cost analysis quarterly and annually. Identify cost savings opportunities and monitor currency and global commodity indexes monthly and quarterly CRU/LME (steel commodities) and ICIS/ CDI (petroleum-based resin products) to protect against fluctuations.
3. Supplier Sourcing, oversee supplier component and tooling sourcing, competitive RFQ’s, evaluating cost, supplier technical capabilities align to meet the engineering / quality standard requirements of our OEM customers. Define tooling ownership, steel grade, number of cavities and cycle time to meet annual production volume requirements. Defining supplier tooling is a direct expenditure or amortized into the piece part price. Establish terms and conditions for tooling payment, PPAP approval signoffs, routine preventative maintenance, end-of-life replacement and/or disposition, and tool failure prior to end-of-life replacement.
4. Contract Agreements, Establish and negotiate multi-year long-term contract agreements include mandatory annual price downs, index-based price adjustments, payment terms, inventory adjustments, quality standards, packaging and delivery, tooling ownership, maintenance, and disposition.
5. Supplier risk mitigation, building backup supply chains to prevent disruptions from geopolitical issues, natural disasters, or vendor bankruptcy.
6. Supplier sustainability and ESG compliance monitoring suppliers to ensure their environmental, social, and governance practices meet legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
