Job description

Pro Resources is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager for a client in Elkhart, IN. This position is responsible for managing purchasing activities, vendor relationships, inventory levels, pricing, and procurement strategies to support customer demand while maintaining cost efficiency and maximizing inventory turnover.

Shift and Compensation Monday-Friday 7-4 PM

Compensation is from 52,000 USD to 80,000 USD per year

Job Duties
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify purchasing needs to maintain appropriate stock levels and customer service.
  • Research and evaluate potential vendors, products, and services.
  • Compare vendor offers based on price, quality, service, reliability, terms, and delivery capabilities.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts, pricing, terms, and policies with suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with reliable vendors.
  • Determine purchasing quantities and delivery timing to maximize inventory efficiency.
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming demand and communicate potential shortages or pricing concerns to the Sales Manager and sales team.
  • Prepare cost analyses and identify opportunities for cost reductions and savings.
  • Prepare purchase orders, solicit bids, and review requests for bids and services.
  • Enter and maintain purchasing data accurately within company and vendor systems.
  • Oversee and support the Assistant Purchasing Agent.
  • Develop and implement purchasing procedures and strategies to improve efficiency.
  • Manage inventory to reduce scrap and improve inventory turns.
  • Direct and coordinate purchasing activities involving materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
  • Analyze purchasing and operational data to evaluate current and projected effectiveness.
  • Monitor applicable laws, regulations, and purchasing requirements.
  • Work closely with warehouse personnel to ensure materials arrive safely and in good condition.
  • Assist with customer phone calls and counter sales as needed.
  • Attend trade shows and industry events to stay current on market and industry trends.
  • Travel to company branch locations and/or vendor locations as needed.
  • Operate company and vendor purchasing software effectively.
Background Profile
  • Minimum of 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • 3+ years of electrical industry or electrical product experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
