Job summary

United Enertech Corp. in Chattanooga, TN seeks a Purchasing Manager to oversee the purchasing department and collaborate with operations and material management to support rapid growth.

You will lead direct and indirect spend, manage supplier relationships, draft policies, administer budgets, and ensure timely procurement of materials, services, and equipment across the organization. This role requires a bachelor’s degree, 5 years purchasing experience, strong negotiation and leadership skills,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing/procurement required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a management role required.
  • Experience with Dynamics GP preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the purchasing department and direct daily workflow and schedules.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers and subcontractors based on quality, cost, service, and reliability.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Draft and implement purchasing policies and procedures for procurement and contract management.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and manage vendor relationships to achieve best value.
  • Administer the departmental budget and manage recordkeeping systems.

Job description

The Purchasing Manager will oversee and direct the activities of the purchasing department and work closely with our operations and material management teams to ensure United Enertech and its suppliers are aware and prepared for our aggressive growth strategies. As Purchasing Manager, you will provide leadership and oversight for direct and indirect spend categories required to support the rapid growth of the United Enertech. Categories that are critical to the success and growth plan include raw materials, maintenance, repairs, operations, engineering, and services.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Hires and manages the Purchasing team, and other staff as needed.
  • Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
  • Evaluate and establish relationships with suppliers and subcontractors based on quality, cost, service, availability, and reliability
  • Prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.
  • Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Maintains and/or implements purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
  • Acts as the company's representative in negotiations with suppliers.
  • Coordinates removal or disposal of surplus materials.
  • Administers the departmental budget.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in the company.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a management role required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing/procurement required.
  • Experience with Dynamics GP preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs.
  • May require travel, less than 10%.
Schedule
  • 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday ' Friday
