Job summary

Bloomington Public Schools is seeking a Purchasing Manager to oversee all district purchasing functions and related contract activities. The role entails managing bid openings, writing specifications, and ensuring compliance with legal notices.

Work involves reviewing contracts for legal and insurance compliance, approving high-value POs, and supporting audits across multiple departments, including Elections oversight.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of MN statutes for procurement and purchasing thresholds (preferred).
• Knowledge of state, county and city election laws and MN statutes for school board elections (preferred).
• Bachelor Degree in Business (preferred).
• Minimum five years public education or five years private industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all district purchasing functions, including bid openings, writing of specifications, bidding documents and related legal notices.
• Oversee process of reviewing contracts for legal, insurance and technology compliance.
• Approve all district PO's over recommended amount.
• Provide audit support to Controller, Building/Grounds, Transportation and Food Service.
• Oversee School Board Elections.

Required Experience:
