Job summary

Sieling and Jones is seeking a full-time Purchasing Specialist in New Freedom, PA, to order products, negotiate with vendors, and maintain inventory levels. This role requires strong negotiation, interpersonal and Excel skills, with time-sensitive per-project ordering.

You will work with project managers to plan material needs, review past orders, and ensure accurate purchasing documents while supporting cost control and on-time delivery in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting strongly preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate vendors on price, reliability, capability, and history.
• Set and maintain safety stock, reorder points, and lead times.
• Negotiate terms and pricing of contracts and SLAs.
• Schedule deliveries and resolve shipping errors to minimize disruption.
• Coordinate with project managers and manufacturing on delays and disruptions.
• Prepare purchasing documents and maintain pricing histories.
• Maintain stock control and data for forecasting and scheduling.
• Travel may be required.

Job Description

This position is responsible for ordering products, services, and raw materials, and ensuring that purchasing documents are accurate and complete. This is not catalog ordering, this is time sensitive, per project ordering. Must also work with vendors to negotiate discounts and maintain inventory levels. You will need strong interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, and the ability to multitask. Other skills that may be useful include: Good verbal and written communication skills, the ability to stay within a budget and good math skills.

Top Priority:

1. Learn Sieling and Jones Service, Product, and Material requirements
2. Review past purchase orders for format and specifications on all new purchase orders
3. Use your Project Managers for critical information regarding materials and timelines

Essential Functions:

• Evaluate vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
• Set and maintain raw material safety stock, re-order points and update lead times.
• Negotiate and manage terms and pricing of contracts and service level agreements.
• Interact with vendors to schedule delivery times and resolve any shipping errors to minimize manufacturing disruption.
• Communicate with project managers and manufacturing on potential material delays, supplier disruptions, inventory discrepancies, etc.
• Prepare purchasing documents ensuring they are complete and accurate.
• Maintain pricing histories and other vendor records.
• Maintain control of stock or materials on hand or on order within the company
• Furnishes data as needed to forecast and prepare warehouse and schedule of goods in process and needs for future production use.
• Prepares reports as needed and keeps inventory records.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Hours of Operation ere 8:00 Am to 5:00 PM

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year of purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs.
• May require travel.
