Job summary

Alamo Group is seeking an Expeditor to ensure prompt delivery of materials and services by communicating with vendors on the status of critical orders and eliminating difficulties and delays.

The role involves maintaining order records, confirming shipping dates with vendors, monitoring notices, reporting issues, assigning tracers, inspecting shipments, and updating the MRP system to reflect dock dates and lead times. Prolonged desk work and light lifting apply.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software needed to check purchase orders and maintain purchasing records.

Responsibilities

• Maintains records of goods that have been ordered and corresponding shipping dates.
• Confirms shipping dates with vendors.
• Monitors shipping notices to avoid potential problems with deliveries.
• Reports major shipping problems to purchasing agent.
• Assigns tracers to shipments to identify delays once order is in transit.
• Inspects shipments to confirm that products received meet specifications.
• Maintains business relationships with suppliers to ensure their assistance if an unexpected event requires expedited shipping of an order.
• Updates MRP System accordingly to reflect correct dock date and lead times.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
