Responsibilities

• Prepare, process, and manage purchase orders, requisitions, supplier quotes, and purchasing documentation.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers based on price, quality, lead time, reliability, service, and capacity.
• Monitor open purchase orders, supplier commitments, delivery schedules, pricing records, and purchasing data for accuracy.
• Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, Planning, and suppliers to resolve shortages, nonconforming materials, delivery issues, and changing requirements.
• Support supplier performance management, cost-reduction initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, and purchasing compliance requirements.
• Maintain records needed for quality, traceability, audits, supplier agreements, and applicable regulatory standards.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Purchasing Buyer for a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity in Irvine, CA supporting an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a procurement professional who enjoys supplier sourcing, purchase order management, cost analysis, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced production setting.

The Purchasing Buyer will work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Operations, Planning, and supplier partners to ensure materials, components, products, and services are purchased at competitive pricing while meeting quality, delivery, and compliance requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, process, and manage purchase orders, requisitions, supplier quotes, and purchasing documentation.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary range: $67,000 to $76,800 per year.
• Job type: Full-time, temp-to-hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Manage purchasing activities for materials, components, products, and services in a manufacturing environment.
• Evaluate supplier quotes, negotiate pricing and terms, and maintain vendor relationships.
• Track purchase orders, delivery commitments, supplier performance, and purchasing documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production schedules, quality requirements, and material availability.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Purchasing, or a related field is required.
• 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, or supply chain operations, with 3 to 5 years of experience preferred for this level.
• Experience working with purchase orders, supplier quotes, pricing analysis, vendor management, and supplier follow-up.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using an ERP or MRP system.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and suppliers.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Engineering, Production, Quality, Operations, and Planning teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace, defense, aviation, or highly regulated manufacturing experience.
• Experience purchasing aerospace components, raw materials, machined parts, assemblies, or specialized services.
• Knowledge of aerospace quality requirements, supplier controls, AS9100, or similar quality management standards.
• Experience with supplier performance management, corrective-action processes, and compliance documentation.
• Experience with MRP/ERP purchasing modules, material planning, inventory management, and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with government, defense, or customer-specific purchasing requirements.
