Job summary

Thompson Safety is seeking a Purchasing Associate to procure products for the assigned region, maximizing vendor relationships and minimizing inventory spend. The role emphasizes building strong supplier networks, evaluating cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring timely, compliant procurement processes.

Responsibilities include negotiating with suppliers, forecasting needs, conducting cost analyses, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• Previous purchasing or logistics experience, preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Great written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills.
• Proficient in all Microsoft applications with the ability to quickly learn new inventory/purchasing systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify new suppliers and assist negotiating supply agreements and contracts as needed, including discount structures, volume rebates, shipping, etc.
• Identify opportunities for cost management/value addition.
• Forecast procurement needs and reorder points.
• Ensure supplier compliance with all company regulations and requirements, including documentation.
• Handle purchasing issues. Be responsible for resource and supply availability and timing.
• Perform cost analysis on items, quantities and holding costs.
• Increase ROI thru maintaining quality vendor relationships.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
