The ideal candidate will be analytical, organized and able to collaborate with vendors and internal leadership to anticipate supply concerns and make well-informed decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least five years of purchasing, procurement, inventory or supply-chain experience.
  • Experience negotiating pricing, terms and agreements with vendors.
  • Strong supplier-relationship and inventory-management skills.
  • Experience working in a regulated, product-based, distribution or manufacturing-related environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, purchasing software and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, recognize problems and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and carry out purchasing strategies for materials, packaging and operational supplies.
  • Identify, evaluate and qualify vendors based on pricing, quality, reliability and compliance.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms and service agreements with domestic and international suppliers.
  • Monitor market conditions, product availability and vendor performance to identify savings opportunities and potential supply risks.
  • Build productive, professional relationships with key suppliers.
  • Coordinate with operations, quality, logistics and other internal departments to support material availability and business needs.
  • Manage inventory levels and purchasing schedules while helping prevent shortages and unnecessary excess stock.
  • Review purchasing data, costs and supplier performance to support informed business decisions.
  • Develop alternative sourcing plans and respond quickly to supply interruptions.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and follow applicable company and regulatory requirements.

An established, privately held B2B company is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee purchasing, supplier relationships, inventory planning and raw material availability. This person will develop sourcing strategies, negotiate favorable pricing and terms, monitor purchasing activity and help maintain a dependable supply chain. The right candidate will be analytical, organized and confident working directly with vendors and internal leadership. This position requires someone who can evaluate costs, anticipate supply concerns and make sound purchasing decisions without needing constant direction.
