Job description

Purchasing Agent - Electrical Contractor

Our client, an Electrical Contractor, is seeking an Electrical Purchasing Agent to be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing electrical materials, tools, and equipment to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution. The ideal candidate has experience in the construction or electrical industry and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Procure materials, equipment, subcontractors, and supplies; negotiate and coordinate shipping schedules with vendors; work with Project Managers on pricing and procurement timelines; manage incoming materials and inventory.
• Collaborate directly with Project Managers for bid and job pricing of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Communicate effectively with field personnel regarding materials or services required and their procurement time frames.
• Negotiate with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment, and services.
• Create, review, and submit purchase orders promptly.
• Coordinate shipping schedules with vendors.
• Manage incoming materials and inventory; follow up with suppliers on delivery requirements.
• Troubleshoot discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices or received materials.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in electrical contracting or construction.
• Strong knowledge of electrical materials, systems, and industry suppliers.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Procore, Sage, or Viewpoint is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
