Job summary

State of Mississippi's Mississippi Library Commission is hiring a Purchasing Agent for 25 - HINDS COUNTY, MS. This full-time role oversees all procurement activities, creates and enters purchasing documents into MAGIC, and sources equipment, supplies, and services through RFQs, state contracts, or formal bids.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's Degree and 2–4 years of purchasing experience, with preferred credentials as a Mississippi Purchasing Agent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years of experience in purchasing/procurement.
• Experience with SRM, ECC purchasing and contracting in MAGIC.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of the procurement function for the Mississippi Library Commission.
• Create and enter purchasing documents (contract requests, contracts, purchase requests, purchase orders, goods receipts) into MAGIC.
• Source equipment, supplies, and services using RFQs, state contracts, and/or formal bid procedures.

This position will be responsible for all phases of the procurement function for the Mississippi Library Commission in accordance with state and federal regulations. This includes creation and entry of purchasing documents (contract requests, contracts, purchase requests, purchase orders, and goods receipts) into the State of Mississippi accounting system (MAGIC) and sourcing equipment, supplies, and services utilizing requests for quotes, state contracts, and/or formal bid procedures.

What you'll need to be Successful

Applicant should be self-directed and have the ability to work with other people, a strong attention to detail, and advanced analytical skills, including experience in Microsoft Excel and Word and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications:Preferred candidate will be a Certified Mississippi Purchasing Agent and have extensive experience utilizing the SRM and ECC purchasing and contracting functions in the State of Mississippi accounting system (MAGIC).
