Job summary

Southland Industries in Horsham, PA is seeking a Purchasing Agent to execute quoting, procurement, and delivery with qualified suppliers. You will determine best value and coordinate with PMs, field staff, and accounting to streamline processes and resolve issues.

Responsibilities include requisition fulfillment, bid preparation, PO management, and timely delivery. Requires 2-year AA degree or equivalent and 3+ years in construction purchasing; COINS ERP experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• AA degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry preferred.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing practices, systems, and practices.
• Good ability to negotiate and procure items in a timely manner.
• Excellent time management with multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Product knowledge of pipe, valves, and fittings for plumbing/mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and ERP (COINS preferred).
• Ability to work in a continuous improvement environment.
• Collaborate with suppliers, customers, PMs, field staff, and accounting.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills material requisitions from field staff and procures products at competitive prices.
• Ensures delivery of products to users within required timeframes.
• Partner with staff and management to eliminate waste and streamline systems.
• Resolve problem invoices with AP and Project Management for timely remits.
• Assist in preparing bid documents, bidder lists, inquiries, and award recommendations.
• Coordinate with project managers to procure goods and services and resolve supplier issues.
• Coordinate bulk deliveries to meet deadlines.
• Prepare and manage purchase orders and follow up on past-due orders.

Position Summary

This roleis responsible forexecuting the quoting, procurement, and delivery of specified products and/or services from qualified suppliers and subcontractors within established Company policies and practices. The Purchasing Agent willbe responsible fordeterminingand making recommendationsfor the best evaluated solution for the Company with respect to cost, quality, delivery, National SupplyAgreementand other similar elements.

Position Details

• Fulfillsmaterial requisitions from field staff, estimating or fabricationshop,procuresand ensuresproduct is ordered at a competitive price anddelivery of product to user within requiredtimeframes.
• Partnerswith staff and management toeliminatewaste and streamline systems.Partnersclosely with A/P and Project Management to quickly resolve problem invoices andremitsforpayment within an acceptabletime frame.
• Assistsin compiling and preparing bid documents and bidders list, including inquiry preparations, request for bids and recommendations for award of contract.
• Coordinates andassists project managersand other job functionsinprocuringgoods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools,partsand supplies.Assistin resolving issues and conflicts related to supplier activities.
• Coordinatesbulk deliveries of rough products, to meetdeadlines.
• Preparesandmanages purchase orders and follows up on past-due purchase orders.

Qualifications

• Ability to work effectively with suppliers, customers, project management team, field staff, and accounting in a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
