Job summary

Snowline Engineering, a Cameron Park, CA based precision machining facility, seeks a seasoned Purchasing Agent to manage procurement for raw materials, equipment and services. You will negotiate with vendors, create POs and RFQs, and ensure timely deliveries while maintaining documentation.

The role supports diverse aerospace, robotics, medical and train projects. Ideal candidates have 8–10 years as a buyer in manufacturing, strong materials knowledge, and proficiency with JobBoss and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Experience as a buyer in a manufacturing/aerospace environment.
• Strong knowledge of materials, specifications and ability to read/drawings.
• Proficient with JobBoss shop system inventory and order processing and Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Purchase raw materials, hardware and other procurement items.
• Create purchase orders and RFQs.
• Maintain vendor relationships and evaluate pricing in JobBoss.
• Add new vendors to the active vendor list.
• Verify material costs to support company profit margins.
• Submit quotes for outside processing requirements.
• Verify costs of outside processing on job travelers.
• Ensure purchasing requirements align with BOM and drawings.
• Update travelers with discrepancies and corrections.
• Confirm materials arrive with proper documentation.

General Description

Works directly with vendors and management staff, maintaining material schedules to support on time deliveries to customers. Responsible for negotiating with vendors to insure best pricing in the procurement process. Perform purchasing activities for raw materials, equipment and repair parts, industrial supplies, outside services, and miscellaneous commodities. Provides strategic direction to the overall procurement process. Insures all of the paperwork associated with the purchasing process is accurate and organized for efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Purchasing of raw materials, hard wares and other items of procurement
• Create purchase orders and RFQs
• Maintain vendor and supplier relationships, evaluations and pricing competitiveness in JobBoss shop system
• Add potential new vendors to active vendor list
• Verify costs of materials and procurement items to support company profit
• Submit quotes for outside processing requirements
• Verify costs of outside processing on job travelers
• Verify purchasing requirements with BOM, drawings, revisions on travelers
• Update travelers with any discrepancies with written correction
• Confirm all materials come in with proper documentation (i.e. material certifications)
• Request any missing documentation from suppliers
• Receive in purchased items in receiving JobBoss shop system
• Follow up with suppliers to help maintain on-time deliveries and schedules
• Report to management staff late potential deliveries
• Maintain annual supplier evaluations and ratings
• Purchasing of stock items to maintain company inventory levels
• Check with process vendors for status of orders as needed
• Other duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

• BS/BA Degree or equivalent experience
• 8-10 years of previous experience as a buyer in a manufacturing/ aerospace field
• Strong knowledge of materials, specifications and ability to read/ understand drawings
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools and JobBoss shop system inventory and order processing systems
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work load
• Ability to work independently as well as closely with vendors and management
• Maintain professionalism, be proactive and detail oriented
