Job summary

DNOW is seeking a Pump Technician to join our field service team. You will repair, assemble and disassemble downhole pumps, work with mechanical components and maintain equipment at customer sites.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, solid mechanical knowledge and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. You should have strong problem solving skills and good communication with DNOW personnel and customers.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Solid mechanical knowledge and mathematical background.
  • Experience or knowledge of pumping well mechanics and downhole terminology.
  • Experience with rod strings, tubing sizes, and pump components.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and commute to customer sites.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, assemble and disassemble downhole pumps.
  • Build well files per customers’ fields.
  • Prepare detailed reports and track trends to improve pump performance and reduce costs.
  • Remedy chronic failures.
  • Double-check pump components to ensure correct make up and proper torque.
  • Forecast parts usage and coordinate with suppliers on new technology.
  • Learn different pump designs for gaseous, sandy and corrosive fluids.

The Pump Technician is responsible for the repair, assembly and disassemble of downhole pumps.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with hands and wrenches, threaders, ball and seat testers, plunger miches, and barrel miches
  • Build well files per customers’ fields
  • Prepare detailed reports and track trends to recommend changes in material and design to improve pump run and lower customer costs
  • Remedy chronic failures
  • Develop a system to double check pump components as to correct make up as to not be over tightened or loose
  • Forecast parts usage and work with suppliers to stay abreast of new technology
  • Learn and understand the different pump designs for gaseous, sandy and corrosive fluids
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • High School diploma and/or equivalent.
  • Solid mechanical knowledge and mathematical background
  • Experience with / Knowledge of: Pumping Well mechanics, Stroke lengths, Corrosion of metal parts, Gas / Oil interface, H2S, Scale, Iron sulfide Problems
  • Knowledge of down hole and work over terms
  • Experience with rod string sizes, down hole tubing sizes and rod spacing
  • Organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR at all times
  • Communication skills, both written and oral, with DNOW field personnel and customers
  • Ability to move, disassemble and re-assemble long, sometimes heavy, down hole pumps
  • Ability to work without supervision and possibly at a customer’s location
