Job summary

Gulf States Engineering, serving the Louisiana market, seeks a skilled Service Technician to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, test, and maintain pumps, motors, and related equipment in our service shop. You will document results and work with customers to ensure high-quality service.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in pump-focused repair, a strong mechanical background, and the ability to read schematics. Occasional field support and safe operation of shop equipment are part of the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, or maintaining pumps, motors, or related rotating equipment.
• Proficiency with reading technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and rebuild pumps, motors, controls, and related equipment in a shop environment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, equipment overhauls, and component replacement to manufacturer specs.
• Disassemble, evaluate, clean, and reassemble pumps and related components.
• Conduct testing and performance evaluations to ensure repair quality.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare documentation of inspections, repairs, testing results, parts used, and recommendations.
• Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and customers.
• Assist with inventory management and maintaining stock levels.
• Maintain a safe, organized shop workspace.
• Occasionally assist with field service, startup, installation support, or emergencies.
