Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is hiring a Pump Assembler I to prepare and assemble products, working with teammates to learn and improve independence on the line.

The role emphasizes safety, following procedures, and mechanical accuracy while meeting production goals in a controlled plant environment in Texas.

Qualifications

• At least one year related experience or training in pump assembly.
• Working knowledge of oil and gas equipment.
• Experience as a pump mechanic preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble parts per work instructions, SOPs, blueprints and routers.
• Prepare components for assembly and maintain routine housekeeping.
• Test operation of completed product and troubleshoot as needed.
• Follow policies safely and escalate for guidance when required.
• Maintain a safe environment and adhere to PPE requirements.
• Assist other assemblers and learn to work more independently.
• Inspect, clean, strip and inspect required components.
• Carry out routine duties as requested by supervisors.

About The Role

SPM Oil & Gas currently has an opening for a Pump Assembler I. The Pump Assembler I is responsible for preparing and assembling product. This position is expected to assist other Assemblers while learning to work more independently.

Additional Information

• Pay: Pay will start at $21.90/hour and can be adjusted based on experience
• Schedule: Monday through Thursday (4 10 hour shifts) 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM with opportunity for overtime as business demands
• Relocation assistance is not available for this position

What Will You Do

• Effectively demonstrate the core values of SPM Oil & Gas
• Follow all written policies and procedures safely without deviation or refer to upper management for guidance
• Exhibit and always advocate exemplary safety culture
• Clean, strip and inspect all required components
• Prepare components for assembly
• Assemble parts per work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, blueprints, Risk Assessment and job routers
• Ability to assemble quality products to meet safety protocol and efficiency standards
• Tests or assists in testing the operation of completed product
• Maintain routine housekeeping to eliminate workplace hazards
• Troubleshoots, disassembles, and performs a detailed evaluation to determine repair needs and root cause analysis for the following
• Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment
• Utilize all PPE
• Perform other routine duties as requested

Top Candidates Will Have

• One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Working knowledge of oil and gas equipment
• Experience as a pump mechanic

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
• Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles
• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
• Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration
• Noise Level: Moderate

Summary Pay Range

$21.90 - $29.30
