Job summary

Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education seeks a doctoral candidate or PhD‑level researcher for a USDA ARS project in Pullman, WA. You will apply high‑throughput genomics and phenomics to pea, lentil and chickpea collections, integrating data with GRIN-Global and public repositories.

You will collaborate with Washington State University breeders and ARS scientists, performing field regeneration, data analyses, and long‑term seed storage optimization in a fully equipped program.

Qualifications

  • PhD or pursuing doctoral degree in Life Health and Medical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences or Plant Sciences.
  • Experience with plant genetic resources and data management is preferred.
  • Experience with field/greenhouse phenotyping and bioinformatics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Apply high‑throughput genomics and phenomics tools to characterize accessions.
  • Collaborate with breeders, geneticists, and collaborators to conduct research.
  • Coordinate regeneration in field and seed storage protocols; generate and manage data.
  • Upload genotypic and phenotypic data to public databases for accessibility.
