Job summary

Commercial Metals in Martinsburg, WV seeks a maintenance technician to support rolling mill operations, perform routine maintenance, and help ensure production runs smoothly.

You will work in a fast-paced plant, follow safety programs, and contribute to continuous improvement while working on rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, dust, fumes, and noise.
• Basic computer skills.
• Dependability in attendance and work completion.
• Must learn quickly and multitask.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Some overtime may be required.
• Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed.
• Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and uphold the CMC Safety Culture.
• Communicate production issues, concerns, and needs effectively.
• Ensure daily equipment inspection reports are completed.
• Perform minor routine maintenance or repairs without maintenance personnel.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting method or procedure changes.
• Maintain daily housekeeping in the work area.
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
• Troubleshoot problems using knowledge and communication with teams.
• Set up rolling mill control systems for efficient operation and monitor deviations.

What You'll Do

• Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed
• Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
• Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift
• Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without the assistance of maintenance personnel
• Responsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and procedures
• Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
• Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others (pulpit operator, process manager, maintenance personnel, etc)
• Set-up rolling mill control systems for most efficient operation from mill set-outs, and monitoring devices in an enclosed pulpit platform and correcting inappropriate deviations from tolerances
