Job summary

Keck Medicine of USC is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Pulmonary department. The RN will coordinate patient care, educate patients and families, and apply the nursing process in a compassionate, therapeutic environment.

The Pulmonary RN serves as a coordinator with physicians and nurse practitioners, educates on medication compliance, ensures up-to-date testing and testing follow-up, triages calls, and supports department process improvements and patient advocacy.

Qualifications

• BSN required; CA RN license
• At least 1 year of nursing experience
• Excellent communication in English
• Knowledge of medical procedures including blood collection and apheresis
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction
• Experience in data management

Responsibilities

• The RN coordinates patient care using the nursing process to provide therapeutic care.
• Educates patients and families about procedures and tests and supports adherence to treatment.
• Triages patient calls and reports signs of complications promptly.
• Participates in departmental process improvement projects and supports service excellence standards.
• Ensures accurate documentation of procedures and patient tolerance.
• Orients and instructs other unit personnel and acts as a patient advocate.
