Job summary

Northwell Health in Danbury, CT is seeking a Per Diem Medical Practice RN in the Pulmonary department to support clinicians with primary patient care. The role involves triage, direct patient care, specimen collection, and collaboration with the care team.

Shifts are Monday to Friday, two 8-hour shifts from 8:30am to 5pm, with a flat per diem rate of $47.74. Active RN license and BLS are required; an associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Five years job-related experience preferred.
• Active RN license based on state; BLS certification within 30 days.
• Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Triages and assesses patient conditions via phone or in-person consultations.
• Determines urgency and type of care required based on assessment.
• Provides medical advice and guidance based on assessments.
• Communicates with physicians and care team about patient statuses.
• Prepares materials and setup for clinician examinations.
• Obtains patient history and medical information.
• Provides direct patient care: vaccinations, wound care, nurse visits, suture removal.
• Collects specimens and performs point-of-care testing as directed.
• Instructs patients on preventive care and medication use.
• Contacts patients with follow-up and test results.
• Fulfills compliance responsibilities and participates in quality improvement.
• Mantains values and attendance; performs other duties as required.
