Job summary

Iowa City VA Health Care System is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Pulmonary/Critical Care physician with a focus on lung cancer to lead the Lung Cancer Program as Director. This part-time role combines administrative leadership with inpatient and outpatient pulmonary duties.

You will guide a multispecialty team, participate in tumor boards, and pursue clinical research opportunities while ensuring high-quality patient care within the VA system.

Qualifications

• Must be board-certified or eligible in Pulmonary/Critical Care.
• Physician with MD or equivalent and full license.
• Experience leading a multidisciplinary program preferred.
• Ability to collaborate across inpatient and outpatient services.
• Strong communication and teaching abilities for learners.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Lung Cancer Program and oversee clinical operations.
• Coordinate with the Lung Cancer Oversight Committee and tumor boards.
• Facilitate clinical research participation in lung cancer studies.
• Provide consultative services for inpatient and outpatient pulmonary care.
• Perform bronchoscopies, including robotic-assisted procedures.
• Ensure high-quality care and supervise fellows and residents.
• Represent the program in committees and quality improvement efforts.
