Job summary

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center seeks a Pulmonary and Critical Care Specialist with a strong background in basic or clinical sciences. You will provide and supervise patient care in ambulatory lung clinics and inpatient services, and perform bronchoscopic procedures as needed.

Responsibilities include teaching residents and fellows, and building a funded, independent research program relevant to lung diseases, with opportunities to educate medical students and house staff.

Qualifications

  • M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. from an LCME‑accredited medical school.
  • Completion of Internal Medicine residency and Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship.
  • Eligible for Texas medical licensure and board certified/eligible in IM, Pulmonary, and Critical Care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and supervise patient care in ambulatory lung clinics and inpatient services.
  • Oversee postoperative care at the University and affiliated hospitals.
  • Perform bronchoscopic procedures where applicable.
  • Teach residents and subspecialty fellows.
  • Develop a funded, independent research program in lung biology.
  • Contribute to medical student, house staff, and fellow education.

Job description

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, is seeking a Pulmonary and Critical Care Specialist with a strong background in basic or clinical sciences. Clinical duties include providing and supervising patient care in ambulatory lung clinics and inpatient services, postoperative care at the University and affiliated hospitals, performing bronchoscopic procedures, and teaching of residents and subspecialty fellows. Research expectations are to develop a strong, funded, and independent research program in the biological sciences with relevance towards lung diseases. Other duties include the teaching and training of medical students, house staff, and fellows.

Applicant must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree from an approved LCME medical school and satisfactory completion of an Internal Medicine residency and Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship from an ACGME accredited program. Candidate must be eligible for Texas medical licensure and board certified/eligible in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care.
