Job summary

White Plains Hospital Medical Center seeks a Pulmonary Function Technologist to perform non-invasive tests of lung function, including bronchodilator responses and overnight oxygen tests. You will operate and calibrate laboratory equipment, assess patients, and educate families and physicians on results in a per diem role.

The position requires an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program, NYS RT license and NBRC RRT credentials, with strong customer service and communication skills.

Qualifications

Job Summary

The Pulmonary Function Technologist provides non-invasive testing of patient lung function as it relates to size, airway resistance, diffusion capacities and exhaled Nitric Oxide levels. Also measured are responses to bronchodilators, antagonistic medications as well as exercise induced airway reactivity.

Oxygen Oximetry with exercise, and Overnight O2 measurements are also provided.

Essential Functions

• Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
• Demonstrates knowledge of accepted standards, policies, procedures, staff responsibilities and instrumentation related to provision of diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
• Demonstrates proficiency in the calibration and operation of laboratory equipment and performance of diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
• Demonstrates proficiency in patient assessment, clinical aerosol delivery and emergency management procedures related to performance of diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
• Provides appropriate instruction/education to patients, family members and physicians.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate Degree Must be a graduate of an AMA approved program for Respiratory Therapy.
