Job summary

White Plains Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Nursing Technician to support patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse in the Medical/Surgical Acute 4F_1 unit. The role covers day shifts, six AM to six PM, Monday through Friday with alternating weekends and holidays.

The ideal candidate performs ADLs, vital signs, I&O, EKGs, and documentation, while assisting with meals and transporting patients and supplies as needed. BLS certification and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with hospital exposure preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork are essential.
• Ability to adapt, solve problems and work under stress in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Attend to ADLs and vital signs per care plan.
• Record intake and output and perform EKGs as assigned.
• Assist with meals, specimen collection and transport of patients.
• Document vitals and I & O accurately and timely.
• Support health care providers during procedures and exams.
• Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.

Job Summary

The Nursing Technician performs patient care and non-patient care functions within their scope of practice under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse.

Qualifications

• High School Required or GED Required less than 1 year Previous experience in hospital or with patient care preferred Preferred Nursing Technicians that will be trained to read the monitors require the 4-day EKG class Required Excellent Communication Skills (written & verbal) Teamwork Adaptability Strong Problem Solving, Judgment & Decision-Making Skills Stress Tolerance
• Must be able to move about the department and hospital constantly while attending to needs of patients, visitors, and staff.
• Requires continuous communication with patients, staff, and visitors of all educational levels.
• Requires frequent use of computers and other office equipment.
• Must be able to rapidly assess and respond to situational needs of patients, staff, and visitors.
• Must be able to adapt to a high stress environment with frequent interruptions.
• BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
• Nursing Technicians must have their BLS upon hire or obtain within 6 months within 180 Days Required
