Northwell Health is seeking a Pulmonary Function Technician to conduct tests, maintain QA/CQI, and support the pulmonary medicine department with equipment and inventory management. The role includes ABG draws, staff training, and ensuring proper documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities include urgent stat reporting, cross-team communication, and adherence to policies. Requires RPFT and BLS credentials, with benefits such as a 401(k) and wellness programs.

Responsabilidades

  • Performs pulmonary function tests including ABG draw and analysis.
  • Maintains QA/CQI processes and assists in equipment maintenance.
  • Ensures staff training and competency in PFT testing; provides coverage as needed.
  • Orders, restocks and tracks supplies; maintains accurate records and documentation.
  • Generates timely, accurate reports and communicates results to clinical teams.
  • Participates in emergency equipment inventory and policy development.

Summary:

The Pulmonary Function Technician is responsible for all tests performed, QA, CQI, training, equipment maintenance, proficiency testing, policies and procedures development. Assists pulmonary medicine department with emergency equipment inventory, ordering, cleaning and restocking supplies and performing ABG draws.

Responsibilities:
  • Responds as soon as possible to stats and produces accurate well-presented reports. Expedites interpretation and communicates results. Provides technical support in other sections of medicine as needed such as Cardiology and GI. Arterial Blood Gas draw and analysis.
  • Follows up on assignments to ensure that work is appropriately performed. Reports unusual occurrences and provides adequate coverage. Communicates with management in a pro-active manner
  • Maintains equipment in good working order maintains clean and safe environment as well as, maintain adequate supplies with fiscal accountability
  • Ensures that staff working in the lab or performing test are properly trained. Documents competency of staff. Teaches students the basic of PFT testing
  • Provides back up for Point of Care testing Coordinator for arterial blood gas, lactate and co-oximetry testing.Reviewing lab procedures and results and ensuring quality testing is performed Provides back up for Point of Care testing Coordinator for arterial blood gas, lactate and co-oximetry testing. Maintaining proficiency testing for JCAHO and CAP and STATE
  • New procedures and equipment evaluation. Implements, modifies and evaluates procedures and policies in an innovative and cost effective manner
  • Enters charges for the Pulmonary Lab, Pulmonary Rehab and Bronchoscopy through Eclipsys.
  • Assists the Department of Pulmonary Medicine. Makes rounds daily and records emergency kit numbers. Checks kit dates for current status and replaces as necessary. Assists the Department of Pulmonary Medicine. Checks the contents (PSI) of the designated emergency tanks of each patient unit and replaces as necessary. Assists the Department of Pulmonary Medicine. Responsible for monthly environmental rounds for the Department of Pulmonary Medicine; provides manager with report of any deficiencies / violations and inputs requisitions for any necessary repairs. Assists the Department of Pulmonary Medicine. Presents results of monthly ABG Critical Value Result audits to manager of Pulmonary Medicine QA. E. Order, clean, or restock supplies needed in the pulmonary department

  • Registered Cardiopulmonary Technologist RPFT
  • Credentials: BLS
