Job summary

61st Street Service Corporation, a top healthcare provider network, is seeking a Pulmonary Function Technician to perform routine pulmonary function testing and related procedures in support of ColumbiaDoctors. The role involves data collection, calibration of equipment, and collaboration with physicians and therapists.

The incumbent will educate patients and staff, assist in interpreting results, and participate in quality assurance activities within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency is required.
• NYSED Respiratory Therapist licensure required by NYSED.
• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent required.
• One year experience in pulmonary function testing (PFTs) required.
• Current BCLS/AED certification required.
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to deliver exceptional service.

Responsibilities

• Perform pulmonary function testing (PFTs) including spirometry and lung volumes.
• Prepare, calibrate, and maintain PFT equipment and testing environment.
• Perform arterial blood gas collection and analysis and quality control.
• Assist physicians and therapists in interpreting test results and presenting data.
• Manage scheduling, orders, and coordination with home-care services.
• Educate and train patients, students, and new technicians.
• Participate in meetings, QA activities, and departmental initiatives.
