Job summary

SSM Health's St. Joseph Hospital - St. Charles in Missouri is seeking a part-time Pulmonary Function Technologist to perform diagnostic pulmonary function tests and stress testing for patients with respiratory conditions.

Experience level is not required; an associate degree in Respiratory Care and professional licensure with NBRC credentials are required, along with BLS certification. The role emphasizes patient education, equipment calibration, and safe operation in a faith-based hospital

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent
• Missouri Respiratory Care Practitioner license
• NBRC CPFT/RPFT credentials
• BLS HealthCare Provider certification
• Ability to perform pulmonary function testing

Responsibilities

• Performs ordered pulmonary function and pulmonary stress testing. Monitors and evaluates patient response during and after testing. Documents and reports testing results.
• Determines testing reference ranges and interprets results. Recognizes and corrects for invalid test results.
• Prepares, maintains and calibrates pulmonary function testing equipment. Maintains adequate levels of supplies used for testing. Troubleshoots equipment problems and reports needed repairs/replacements.
• Provides education and resources to patient and/or patient's family based on clinical implications.
