Qualifications

Shift: Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm

Summary:

The RCP in Ambulatory performs direct patient care using the respiratory care process, working effectively with healthcare team members and families to provide developmentally appropriate care.

Responsibilities:
  1. Utilize evidence-based standards to guide practice.
  2. Provide direct patient care, including mechanical ventilation, aerosol therapy, pulmonary hygiene, suctioning, oxygen therapy, and inhaled gases.
  3. Accurately document patient status, responses, and interventions.
  4. Provide health education to patients and families.
  5. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams.
  6. Precept novice therapists.
  7. Utilize resources to impact patient care and solve practice problems.
  8. Participate in interdisciplinary committees and projects.
  9. Contribute to the Respiratory Care Vision Statement.
  10. Ensure a safe environment using National Patient Safety Goals.
  11. Perform diagnostic testing in pulmonary labs.
  12. Engage in professional and educational development, including continuing education, supporting professional organizations, sharing knowledge, and developing training programs.
  13. Integrate research and quality improvement activities into clinical practice, including reading current research, sharing findings, and participating in research activities.
Qualifications:

Work Experience: Minimum 2 years full-time post-graduation in respiratory care; 3+ years preferred, especially in pediatric/neonatal care. Associates Degree required; Bachelor's preferred. Asthma education experience preferred.

Education: Associate's degree required; Bachelor's preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: Current Texas license, RRT certification, BLS certification, PACES certification within 6 months, and other preferred certifications such as AARC membership, NPS, CPFT, RPFT, or Asthma Educator certification.

Requires in-depth professional knowledge, the ability to solve complex problems, and work independently. Acts as a resource, leads projects, and impacts team activities. Demonstrates awareness of industry standards and regulations.
