Job summary

City of Wylie seeks a Training Coordinator for the Public Works Division to develop and direct trainee programs, schedule classes, maintain training records, and ensure regulatory compliance. The role partners with staff and external agencies to deliver instruction and manage the training calendar.

The position requires five years of municipal Public Works experience, a Texas CDL-A with at least three years’ driving, CDL Instructor training within twelve months, and completion of NIMS courses

Qualifications

• Five years of Public Works experience in a municipal setting or related experience.
• Texas CDL-A Driver's License for a minimum of 3 years.
• Within twelve months of hire must complete a CDL Instructor training program approved by the Texas DPS and must maintain instructor certification while employed by the city.
• Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses 100 and 700 upon hiring or within six months of employment/transfer/promotion. Completion of courses 800, 300 and 400 must be attained within the first year of employment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develops and provides classroom and practical instruction to new hires, remedial training as needed.
• Oversees continuing education of the department.
• Develops lesson plans, training aids, and training bulletins.
• Coordinates with external agencies and other city departments to provide training to employees.
• Maintains training calendar and maintains all training records.
• Assists in the preparation of the annual budget requests to include training projections; manages budget line items that pertain to training.
• Maintains training equipment and materials, and develops specifications as needed.
• Attends various meetings, conferences, continuing education courses, and seminars as required.
• Operates a motor vehicle in carrying out the business of the department and the City.
• May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly, or completely unrelated to normal job functions.
• Performs related duties as required or assigned
