The Training Coordinator is responsible for developing, evaluating, and directing trainees within the Public Works Division on required state and federal programs. The Coordinator works with staff to identify training needs and opportunities; schedules training activities and functions; ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, as well as department policies and procedures; and maintains records related to the program.
General supervision is provided by the Director of Public Works.
Public Works Division works four ten hour days, 6am to 4pm.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Five years of experience in Public Works in a municipal setting or related experience. Must have had a Texas CDL-A Driver's License for a minimum of 3 years. Within twelve months of hire must complete a CDL Instructor training program approved by the Texas DPS and must maintain instructor certification while employed by the city. Obtain other licenses as needs arise by the department.
This position requires the completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses 100 and 700 upon hiring or within six months of employment/transfer/promotion. Completion of courses 800, 300 and 400 must be attained within the first year of employment.
High: Exerting 50-100 pounds occasionally, 25-50 pounds frequently or 10-20 pounds constantly. Exposure to biological and/or infectious materials. Inclement weather: extreme heat/cold, rain, sleet, ice and some exposure to mechanical, electrical and explosive hazards, dust, toxic and chemical waste, using proper safety precautions.
