Job summary

City of Oak Creek is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator for the Department of Public Works, focusing on Streets and Forestry maintenance. The role involves operating a variety of municipal equipment, hand-tool work, and responsive snow/ice duties in a fast-growing Oak Creek environment.

The position requires a valid Wisconsin CDL with B, C and D endorsements within 18 months of hire, plus 2 years of related experience. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Must have (or obtain within 18 months of hire) a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) including B, C and D endorsements.
• 2 years of experience in a municipal public works department or related construction experience in the private sector.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles and equipment used by the department (brush chipper, tar kettle, asphalt patcher, line painter, saws, dump trucks, etc.).
• Digs, excavates, and performs work with hand tools as needed.
• Drive and operate trucks for loading, hauling, and unloading equipment and materials.
• Respond to snow/ice operations with 15–30 minute response time.
• Assist in signs maintenance and painting/marking of City streets.
