Job Title: Public Works Technician

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Works Technician in the Public Works Division. The successful candidate will perform:

1. General Public Works construction and maintenance
2. Stormwater system inspections and maintenance
3. Sign manufacturing and installation
4. Maintenance and repair of onsite sewer and water systems
5. Operation and maintenance of machinery, heavy equipment, vehicles, and tools

Salary: Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent with relevant training or coursework; at least one year of experience in Public Works maintenance, landscaping, grounds maintenance, heavy equipment operation, turf management, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses and certifications: A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required. A Class "A" or "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred. The ability to obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator certificate is also preferred.

Background checks and screenings: Successful candidates will undergo criminal and DMV background record checks. A pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required for CDL holders. CDL holders must comply with the county's Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy.

Physical requirements and availability: Must be able to lift 70 lbs. Must be available to respond to emergencies (24/7) as directed. This position is considered essential personnel.
