Job description

The City of Saint Paul Public Works Department is hiring an individual to perform advanced supervisory work planning, scheduling, assigning and supervising work involving the construction, and maintenance of streets alleys, curbs and sidewalks.

Here's what you can expect to do:

  • Plan and schedule work creating work orders and detailing crew assignments, tasks, equipment, routes, and/or locations.
  • Responsible for inventory and work with equipment vendors.
  • Resolve the most complex problems and issues associated with the work.
  • Align goals and work plans with department and City workplans and goals.
  • Establish and prioritize mid-long term work plans and goals.
  • Determine, implement, and schedule training and safety programs.
  • Document employee performance, provide recommendations, and address performance issues.
  • Participate in the interviewing and hiring process.
  • Promote a welcoming and inclusive work environment for all staff members.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with staff and community members, across diverse cultures and all backgrounds.

    Assessment: Qualifications Rating

    GENERAL INFORMATION:

    Open Job Posting: This posting is open to anyone who meets the position requirements.

    Eligible Lists: Eligible lists are typically created from a pass/fail assessment. Those who pass the assessment will be placed on an eligible list for approximately six months. Hiring Managers may interview/hire anyone from the list.

    Final Selection Process: You must receive a score of 75% or higher to pass the assessment and be considered for the position. Those who pass will be placed on an eligible list and all will be notified of their status. A Hiring Manager will consider those applicants eligible for hire. You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method.
