Job summary

City of Panama City is seeking a Trades Worker I to perform semi-skilled masonry, concrete, asphalt and pipe-laying work on streets, sidewalks, and drainage structures under the direction of the Public Works Director.

The role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions, occasional overtime, and the ability to read blueprints and operate basic surveying equipment; a valid driver’s license and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of manual labor maintenance/construction experience in concrete, masonry, asphalt and pipe laying desired.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform masonry, plastering and concrete work in construction and maintenance of concrete structures and sidewalks.
• Install storm water systems including pipes, boxes, culverts and inlets.
• Maintain streetscapes, sidewalks, curbs and drainage pipes; operate surveying equipment to determine grades and elevations.
• Read and interpret blueprints and rough sketches; plan and layout projects with supervisor.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and be available for overtime as needed.
