Job summary
Village of Elk Grove Village seeks a Staff Engineer to oversee planning, design, and construction of infrastructure within the Department of Public Works. The role focuses on contract documents, construction observation, GIS management, and coordination with residents, developers, and consultants.
The candidate will assist with engineering plans, project documentation, and ensure compliance with applicable codes while delivering exceptional customer service.
Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering or related field and two years of experience in civil engineering project management, design, or construction.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, MicroStation and GIS preferred.
- Illinois Driver's License (Class D) and safe driving record; Professional Engineer license in Illinois or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, design, and construction management of roadway rehabilitations, sewer improvements, traffic signals, street lighting, and related projects.
- Review contract documents and oversee construction observation; maintain inspection reports.
- Prepare engineering plans and specifications; coordinate with contractors, consultants, and other government agencies.
- Provide technical support to residents, developers, and Village staff; ensure sound engineering practices and compliance with codes and standards.
