Job summary

The City of Nacogdoches Public Works Department is seeking an Equipment Operator II for the Sanitation Division. You will safely operate large-scale machinery and contribute to essential City operations. This role requires a valid Class B Texas CDL and a high school diploma, with preferred landfill experience.

Responsibilities include excavating, grading roads, loading materials, and performing routine vehicle maintenance while ensuring safety and efficiency on the job site.

Qualifications

Ready to roll up your sleeves and move mountains (of dirt)? The City of Nacogdoches Public Works Department is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator II to be the engine of our Sanitation Division.

This is your chance to run large-scale machinery and have a heavy impact on essential City operations. You will safely and efficiently operate various heavy motorized equipment, including large tractors, dozers, trackhoes, scrapers, motor graders, compactors and dump trucks. Core duties involve escavating, grading access roads, level fill dirt, loading and unloading heavy materials and performing preventative maintenance.

Key Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED
• A valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) is required. (Possession of a Class A or B CDL adds an additional certificate/license pay up to $160.00 per month.)
• Heavy equipment operations and landfill experience is preferred.
• Ability to obtain State Certification in Solid Waste, as required.
